Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine create a strong support system for the individual by restoring balance and harmony, so disease does not have the opportunity to become established in the body. The result of routine Oriental Medicine treatment is a strong, resilient body with calm, balanced energy. Massage Therapy has been proven to be highly beneficial as an integral part of a personal health and fitness program and a valuable aid to restoring and maintaining good health. At The Acupuncture Clinic & Whole Body Therapy we offer a wide range of services, treatments, and products, including:Moxibustion (patient may be sent home w/ the moxa to do at home)
Moxa is used to warm regions and acupuncture points with the intention of stimulating circulation through the points and inducing a smoother flow of blood and Qi. Scientific research has shown that mugwort (the herb used for moxa) acts as an emmenagogue, meaning that it stimulates blood-flow in the pelvic area and uterus. It is claimed that moxibustion mitigates against cold and dampness in the body and can supposedly serve to turn breech babies. Moxibustion is especially effective in the treatment of chronic problems, deficient conditions (weakness), and gerontology.
Cupping
Cupping is a therapy designed to stimulate the flow of blood and Qi within the superficial muscle layers. It is used for sore muscles, tension, neck pain and detoxification. In this therapy, your acupuncturist will place small glass “cups” over specific areas on your body. A vacuum is created under the cup using heat or suction. The cups may be moved slowly over the affected area or they may be left in place. *After the treatment there may be slight redness or bruising; but there is no cause for alarm. It will generally dissipate within a few days to a week.
Gua Sha
Gua Sha is a technique that feels like deep massage and is used to release muscle tension, tightness and constriction. A specialized tool is used to gently scrape or rub the skin over the problem area.
Tui Na
Tui Na translates literally as “push grasp”. It is a massage technique that moves the Qi to various places in the body. It is used to relieve muscle pain, tension and inflammation and to promote the healing of injuries.
Magnetic Therapy
Practitioners of this therapy selectively use negative magnetic fields which can have a very beneficial effect on health. By placing magnets near or on an injury site, a force field is created that encourages muscle relaxation and increased blood flow, while reducing inflammation. Where magnets contact the body, a small electrical current is generated which may aid in healing when magnets are placed on acupuncture points. Devices range from small, simple magnets to large machines capable of generating high magnitudes of field strength.
Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is the art and science of healing with essential oils, which have been extracted from various parts of the plant, including the leaves, bark, roots, seeds, peel or flower. In order to be of benefit, the essential oil may be inhaled, or applied to the skin, and each of the oils (or combination thereof) can be used to produce pronounced therapeutic effects on body, mind, emotions, and spirit. The essential oils can be utilized on a specific area of the body to directly treat the condition or applied non-specifically for use as a tonic and as general support for health and prevention of disease.
Bach Flower Remedies
Bach flower remedies are dilutions of flower "essences" that were originally developed by Dr. Edward Bach. There are thirty-eight original Bach remedies plus the signature "Rescue Remedy", each prescribed or used in combination for certain mental and emotional states. They form a complete system with which practitioners can treat many varieties of human emotional imbalance. They are similar to homeopathy, however their effect is that the "energetic signature" of the flower is transmitted to the user and affects a person's psychological state. The remedies are used primarily for emotional and spiritual conditions, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, insomnia and stress.
Life Coaching & Goal Support
The essence of coaching is to promote positive change by facilitating clarity and offering support and innovative approaches to the clients issues. The ongoing support provided by the coach promotes continued motivation and progress, enhancing the rate and ease of personal transformation.
Energy & Chakra Re-Balancing
Clearing and rebalancing the body’s energy systems and the field allows for deep healing and change to occur. All physical and emotional trauma is stored in the energy field and removing these blocks allows for new choices to be made that are more in alignment with the present. Energy Healing also greatly speeds the physical healing process.
Hypnotherapy
Hypnosis is performed by guiding the person into a sense of deep relaxation with narrowed concentration, and focused on appropriate suggestions made by the therapist. As the body is released from conscious control during the relaxed trance-like state of hypnosis, breathing becomes slower and deeper, the pulse rate drops and the metabolic rate falls. Similar changes along nervous pathways and hormonal channels enable the sensation of pain to become less acute, and the awareness of unpleasant symptoms, such as nausea or indigestion, to be alleviated.
The therapist is there to facilitate the hypnotherapy experience and is able to suggest ideas, concepts and lifestyle adaptations to the patient, while the patient is in a calm and more receptive state. Hypnotherapy aims to re-program patterns of behavior within the mind, enabling irrational fears, phobias, negative thoughts and suppressed emotions to be overcome.
NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming)
NLP explores the relationships between how we think (neuro), how we communicate (linguistic) and our patterns of behavior and emotion (programs). By studying and learning the interaction of these relationships people can effectively transform the way they traditionally think and act, adopting new, far more successful models of human performance. In effect, NLP is a powerful change management tool that transforms the way people think and act to have great impact both professionally and personally.
