I exist and practice medicine in two very different worlds. The first, that of allopathic western medicine, has been practiced here in the United States only since the early nineteenth century. This is the most common form of medicine practiced in this country today. Its premise is to treat a disease by suppressing its symptoms or attempting to destroy the microbes associated with the condition. This is generally achieved using pharmaceutical drugs and/or surgery. The other, Traditional Chinese Medicine; which includes Acupuncture, herbs and various forms of Asian bodywork, is considered in this country to be alternative healthcare, even though it has been practiced successfully in other parts of the world for over five thousand years. I find this very interesting.

My Story –

I have been a Registered Nurse since 1997, with specialization in asthma, allergies, mental health, geriatrics and currently; emergency medicine. In my day to day work in the medical profession I had become increasingly aware of, and frustrated with the limitations that allopathic medicine has in treating most conditions and diseases. Also their total focus on the specific disease or symptoms that an individual might manifest, as opposed to looking at the person as a whole being. After some personal experiences with Acupuncture and its amazing effectiveness, I decided to investigate it further. This ultimately led to a huge new and wonderful undertaking.

I began my studies at the Santa Barbara College of Oriental Medicine, transferring to RainStar University in Scottsdale, Arizona to complete my Masters in Oriental Medicine in 2004. I am an Arizona State Licensed Acupuncturist and I am Nationally Board Certified as a Diplomate in Acupuncture from NCCAOM. I also have had specialized training from my studies abroad at Guang An Men Hospital in BeiJing, China. I hold a current Nursing license for both Arizona and California.

I am skilled at treating all types of pain including head, neck, back and sciatic pain. I am also accomplished in successfully working with conditions such as arthritis and autoimmune diseases along with neuralgia, neuropathy, shingles pain and bells palsy. My specialties include internal medicine, skin problems, stress-related conditions ADD/ADHD and all facets of women’s health; including perimenopause, menopause and infertility.

The benefit to you of what I offer is the combined knowledge of both Eastern and Western medicine and the integration of the two approaches in a way that offers you the best possible treatment and healing outcome. I understand the strengths and limitations of each and advocate the patient in how to combine them in order to optimally use what the best of both worlds have to offer.

Since my approach is integrative, not only does it provide you with excellent results, it works well in conjunction with any other healing modalities you may already be using.
